Provenance Thebes, donated by Leo Simon Reinisch in 1896. For this reason the papyrus is also called the Reinisch Papyrus

The Book of the Dead of Sesostris is more than 3,400 years old, making it the oldest object in the Austrian National Library. Today, about six metres of its original length is preserved
